- Mummy's amazed at the number of words that got added to my dictionary over the last two months. They include: ball, mummy, banana ("Nana"), duck, 妹妹,好吃,牙齿,袜子,鞋子,裤子
- I also know A is for Apple and C is for Car...
- I also started to understand most of my body parts in Mandarin
- I am able to imitate Daddy to sweep and mop the floor, including underneath the sofa and shelves etc
- I now know how to wipe my hands and mouth with a tissue after food and throw it away in the dustbin
- I know how to wash my hands (ie rub my hands together) and then dry them with a towel
- I know how to put on my crocs shoes

Mummy has been away on her vacation to New Zealand for two weeks previously and didn't have time to update my developments when I turned 17 months. So here's two months' worth of my developments...

Mummy has read somewhere that kids my age (ie 2-3 years old) like to pretend play... And this is definitely affirmed by some of the more experienced mummies that Mummy know. So Mummy decided to give me a kitchen set for my 18th months' birthday today... Check out my great skills...

It is so real that, I can actually cut the fish, meat and vegetables into pieces. Definitely a great kitchen set for me to "learn" my cooking skills...

I have always liked bringing my set of Baby Einstein ABC books to Mummy for her to read to me. I certainly know that I is for ice-cream and I definitely know it's yummy. Cos everytime Mummy says ice-cream, I say "Um". So yesterday after dinner, Mummy let me have some of her ice-cream since the weather is so hot now. But guess what, I ended up finishing like half of it. So Mummy says next time, we need to buy the mini cones instead...

Now that we know Mummy is expecting a little sister for me, we need to start thinking about names... Hmm there are several choices:
- Starts with "M" (ie just like me)
- Starts with "N" (ie just next to me)
- With a set of double letters (ie just like I have a set of double "tt" in my name)
After looking through baby girl names starting with M and N, Mummy didn't find much names that she liked. So she decided on Option 3 above. So now we have a direction... Here are some names (and their meanings) that Mummy is thinking of:
- Emma (female version of "Emmanuel" which means "I am God")
- Hannah (Means favored grace, as pictured in the story whereby Hannah was a character in the Old Testament and God blessed her with a son Samuel)
- Isabella (Means promise of God)
Let's see if Mummy can find any more names in the next weeks...

Our domestic helper has just taken two weeks' leave from us as her mum is hospitalised. I hope her mummy gets well soon. So in her absence, I decided to help Daddy and Mummy keep the house in a clean shape. Do you think I am doing a good job??? Daddy says this must be hereditary (from him, of course!) since I will clean underneath the TV console without being asked. Hahaha...

Finally more teeth...

Mummy finds it funny that since last November, I have been having only eight teeth and new teeth seems to stop sprouting out. But within these two weeks, she was proved wrong as four new lower teeth and two new upper teeth, including my first lower molars, have finally made their appearance, sprouting out of my gums. Which probably explains the additional salivating, the additional finger-biting and the additional crankiness... Poor me...

Wow, after leaving Shanghai for three weeks to return to Singapore, we are back in Shanghai only to find out that it's summer already. Temperatures are already ranging from 22 to 34 degrees these days, not far from hitting the highest of 40 degrees. So Mummy is glad it's time to bring me swimming again.

As I am going to turn 18 months soon, I am now able to attend the Art & Craft lessons @ Gymboree. It was my first attempt and Mummy had a hard time trying to get me to put on my apron. Here's some photos of me in action. The theme taught in the lesson today was "Orange" and we were supposed to mix red and yellow to obtain the orange colour to paint my orange. Unfortunately, the first attempt to mix it got paint right onto my face and hair. It was so funny...

Here's my finished product. How many points would you award me???

I am so delighted. Mummy just told me in the next few months, I am going to receive a bunch of presents from Mei Mei. But in my mind, I am thinking, where is Mei Mei? Mummy says Mei Mei is in her tummy, and always asks me to sayang Mummy's tummy. Now whenever someone asks me where is Mei Mei, I will touch Mummy's tummy. Wow, not only I am going to have a new Mei Mei, I am going to have a bunch of presents from her too. I am so excited to receive my first present from her... Here it is... I now use my new bag to keep my toy cars whenever I go out. Mummy also bought one for Mei Mei on my behalf, so now we have both the Mickey and Minnie bags...
How do I look with my new bag?

Mummy has scheduled her 20 weeks detailed fetal scan today. She has been waiting "patiently" for this time until her neck seems to grow longer and longer... Hahaha... Everyone who sees Mummy nowadays always ask one question: "Is it a boy or a girl???" So finally, the day is here and we will all know the answer soon.
True enough, Mummy definitely got her prayer answered by God as He has so abundantly blessed our family with a little GIRL... although I must say I think Daddy was a little disappointed. Not that he doesn't love my little 妹妹... But as he has grown up in a family with two boys (ie 叔叔), so he thinks it is more beneficial for both siblings to grow up together. But well, I must say (and I think Mummy will agree) Daddy is going to be so wrong... Cos I am going to grow up loving my little 妹妹, cos that's the whole idea of Mummy wanting a boy first before a girl, so that I can be the big brother that can take care of his little sister...
So Mummy's excited about planning a new wardrobe for my little sister... with all the pretty dresses and ribbons... Hahaha... Daddy's not going to be too thrilled about this!!! But one thing's for sure, it's time to start thinking about my little sister's name!!! Can I have a say, Mummy???

Check out some terrific photos we took (Check out FB if you want to view more...) It was definitely worth the trip even though it was drizzling and chilly... Since Mummy missed the tulips season when she visited Amsterdam and Canberra when she went in late Springs (and the season was just over!!!). Entrance ticket was only RMB 80 (would have cost a lot more in the above two places...) So it's a must go in Spring in Shanghai!!!

We visited 鲜花港 yesterday. As the weather is chilly from the rain, it wasn't exactly the best day to visit the garden to view tulips (Check out the next post for terrific photos we took of the tulips yesterday). However, as we had purchased our tickets in advance, we had to go with it. This is what I wore yesterday... Hahaha... Mummy has taught me "left, right... left, right, left"... Makes her feel like I am a little comrade from China... Hahaha...
Mummy's Fear of Having to Deal with a Second Newborn...

You see, Mummy had a dim sum lunch with Aunty Candy and Aunty Fiona (the one that I went to her place before and refused to step onto her furry carpet, hahaha...) at Royal China... Nice food... So the three ladies started chatting about kids and stuff...
So after the conversation and also recent MSN conversations with Aunty Michelle ("My" Claudia's mummy, hahaha...), Mummy started wondering how she is going to be able to deal with a second newborn. You see, Mummy has trained me from knowledge she learnt from books, from experienced mummies like Aunty Candy, Aunty Lina etc and even trial an error. So now that she looks back, she thinks she has done pretty much a decent job in training my habits (of course, much of the credit has to go to my grandparents who have helped out along the way), EXCEPT for sleeping in Mummy's bed. Although I have been pretty much a mischievous boy now that I am in my terrible twos, Mummy still thinks that I haven't been such a difficult kid to take care of anyways (and 婆婆 concurred with this!!!) One thing Mummy would have loved to have done differently and that is she should never have brought me back to sleeping with her. I was quite good in my cot in the summer, then as winter came, Mummy was worried I will be cold in my cot on my own (fearing that I will kick away my blankets), she allowed me to sleep with her. Now, as she is trying to re-train me on this sleeping habit since our little beanie is coming. However, no matter how hard she tried, she doesn't seem to have any success, without me waking up in the middle of the night, standing in the cot and crying for Mummy. Sigh, the moment Mummy picks me up from the cot into her arms, I feel the comfort and goes back to sleep immediately without making further fuss...
Now as Mummy thinks about how she needs to train a second newborn, she starts to scratch her head again. After all, it's been 16 plus months now. And since my 3rd month, everything is a routine to me that it was really easy. Now, Mummy will have to start the routine training all over again... And for one thing, Mummy knows, it will have to start from Day One, not at 3 months...
