Through this blog, YJ and I hope that we will be able to share the growing up phases of Little Matthias and Shannon with our loved ones, whether we are in Singapore or overseas...
Matthias arrived on 15 November 2007, at 1901 hours with a height of 48cm and a weight of 2.97kg. "Matthias" has a hebrew origin and means "A gift of God" as indeed, this baby is a gift from God to us... His Chinese name is 陈睿扬. In Chinese, it is pronounced as Chen Rui Yang and in Cantonese, Chan Yeui Yeung. (睿 means "far-sighted" and 扬 means "spreading the good news").
Shannon arrived on 18 August 2009, at 1821 hours with a height of 46cm and a weight of 2.64kg. "Shannon" also has a hebrew origin and means God is gracious, as indeed, God has been gracious to our family to allow YJ to escape totally unscathed despite being present in the Ritz Carlton Jakarta bombing a month before Shannon was born. Her Chinese name is 陈睿琦. In Chinese, it is pronounced as Chen Rui Qi and in Cantonese, Chan Yeui Kei. (睿 means "far-sighted" and 琦 means "extraordinary, outstanding and precious").
